out the details of those behind the repeatedly annoying Emails or using a reverse email address search by
putting in someones name will become ever more vital in our lives.
Today my mail box was full of impersonal junk mail, with not one handwritten personalised letter
to me. I so miss them. Those letters from a close friend or family member that had something special, a
little intimate, something really personal.
 They usually contain all the most recent and fascinating news. The types you rip open and have
problems reading their handwriting. Having to take a look at more than a few times in order to take in all
that scrumptious free news. When I realized that I receive fewer and fewer of these kinds of
personalised letters in my life a feeling of disappointment came over me. I’m so much more reliant on
e mails to stay in touch with friends and loved ones.
And then I began to think exactly how much simpler emails have been to keep in touch with
people. The convenience of not having to acquire an envelope, stamp and then posting it. A
thought you want to share can be just whisked off to a friend. Virtually like having an on-going
chat.
The idea then occurred to me that if that is the way I keep in touch with my friends and family then possibly a
common way for others. Perhaps people I have lost touch with over the years are extremely active on the e mail
scene? Most likely this could be a wonderful way to renew old acquaintances if you could just look up an email
address for that person. I could look up their e mail address rather than looking for their new postal address
after they relocated yet again. Free to update my e-mail address book exactly like I did my good old
address book. As we all know over 1 in 5 of us move each year and maintaining our address book up to date can be
quite time consuming.
I emailed my friends later that morning with regards to how upset I was with my heap of junk mail and how I had
keenly looked for that handwritten letter. This talk went backwards and forwards for a while until one of them
mentioned that an e mail had in fact got her back in contact with people. She had got those people’s e
mail addressess from the Internet. She entered their name in and back came their e mail address with a confirming
address and phone number.
So that is my task for this week. As soon as I have created my list of people I would like to get in
contact with again I will give it to my friend to see if she can come up with their e mail addresses so I
can restart our friendships. Possibly I’ll start with six? I’m excited.
